M'sians shocked & enticed by S$4,000/month salary toilet-washing cleaner job in S'pore listed on M'sia job portal

A recent job ad put up on an employment portal looking to hire Malaysians for the role in Singapore has raised eyebrows.

The attractive part?

The ad on the Indeed job portal is looking for a "cleaning specialist" to work in Singapore and is offering a monthly salary of RM10,484 (S$3,200) to RM13,100 (S$4,000).

Six days a week job

The full-time role requires the prospective hire to work six days a week, eight hours a day, or up to 12 hours each day if overtime work is needed to be done.

The overtime pay is 1.5 times the normal hourly wage, the job vacancy ad indicated.

Fresh graduates in Malaysia can apply, as long as they possess a degree in any field.

Malaysians in disbelief

The job ad has elicited strong reactions from online users in Malaysia, who took to r/Bolehland on Reddit to discuss the role and the catch.

Most were shocked by the high pay.

How much do cleaners earn in Singapore?

In Singapore, a full-time restroom cleaner, who works 35 to 44 hours per week, can earn up to S$2,325 a month, according to the Ministry of Manpower in Singapore.
