US woman, 44, who organised sexual retreat classes in Bali arrested & deported
She supposedly violated her tourist visa by conducting such commercial activities.
A U.S. citizen was deported from Bali on Sep. 18 for organising sexual retreat classes.
Indonesian news agency Antara reported that the woman, identified only as JRG, arrived in Bali on Sep. 4.
Caught at airport
JRG, 44, was arrested by the Immigration Intelligence and Enforcement Team on Sep. 16.
She was arrested at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, where she planned to fly to Jakarta.
The Directorate General of Immigration, Immigration and Correctional Affairs Ministry deported JRG two days later on Sep. 18.
Public reports
Her activities in Bali's west coast Seminyak area were supposedly brought to light because of public reports.
This led immigration officers to conduct field surveillance and cyber monitoring.
Evidence from their investigations suggested that JRG held an “Intimacy Mastery Retreat” at a Seminyak villa.
The retreat from Sep. 4 to 8 was attended by participants from several countries.
It allegedly offered lessons on intimate relationships, emotional closeness, and sexual activity.
Misused visa
The Jakarta Globe reported that Winarko, the head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, said in a statement on Sep. 19: "Every foreign national in Indonesia is required to comply with immigration regulations and respect the prevailing legal norms.
"We will take firm action against anyone who abuses their stay permit."
Winarko added that photos of equipment related to sexual activities were found during the event.
The Jakarta Globe added that these classes meant JRG violated the terms of her visa by conducting commercial activities.
This is because she was in Bali on a Visa on Arrival (VoA) valid till Oct. 4.
Penalties
By using a tourist visa to run a paid sexual retreat business in Bali, JRG violated immigration rules.
According to the website of PNB Immigration Law Firm in Indonesia, under Article 75 Paragraph (1) of the Immigration Law, she misused her stay permit.
This offence is punishable with deportation.
