Three policemen were arrested in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Sep. 18 for allegedly extorting and molesting an 18-year-old female student, according to local news outlets.

The incident occurred at around 1:10am on Sep. 17, when the student and her boyfriend were stopped by three policemen near a food stall in Sentul, a suburb in Kuala Lumpur.

The student told police that the policemen had allegedly demanded their identification cards and seized their mobile phones without consent.

The two policemen proceeded to allegedly access her boyfriend's device and view private photos stored on it.

She was then separated from her boyfriend, where the third policeman allegedly threatened her, saying that private photos amounted to a "serious offence" that could result in an RM10,000 (S$3,000) fine or two years' imprisonment.

She also said that the policeman forbade her from contacting anyone, and insisted the matter could only be resolved if she either paid the fine immediately or engaged in sexual acts with him.

The policeman also claimed her life would be ruined as she would be jailed and would not be able to complete her education.

Molested her

He allegedly proposed multiple sexual encounters, including spending the night with him, and threatened to detain her boyfriend if she refused.

She was allegedly promised money and an iPhone if she agreed to have a sexual relationship with him.

He also demanded that she provide her phone number to him under an alias and threatened to visit her hostel or home if she disclosed the incident to anyone.

Additionally, the policeman also allegedly molested her by pinching her left breast.

He took her identification card and said he would only return it if she agreed to meet him again the next afternoon.

The entire encounter lasted around two hours, from around 1am to 3am.

The student lodged a police report after the encounter.

The three policemen are now under investigation and have been remanded for four days.
