S'pore woman swaps new pair of boots for old ones at shop, returns old boots in box & leaves without paying
She went back the next day to pay.
A woman was caught on camera allegedly swapping her old boots with a pair of new ones, returning the old shoes in a box to the store and leaving the shop wearing the new pair without paying.
In a post on Complaint Singapore, a user uploaded two CCTV video clips of the woman.
In the first video, the woman could be seen putting a pair of boots that were apparently her own into the shoe box and placing it on the ground.
The second video showed her wearing the new pair of boots and walking out of the store.
The user shared that the woman had entered her friend's store on Aug. 4 at around 4pm.
She added that the woman made the alleged swap while the shop assistant was busy attending to another customer, and supposedly left the store with the new pair without paying.
The user then issued the woman an ultimatum, stating she was given two days to return the new boots and pay for them.
If she did not pay by Aug. 6, the store would lodge a police report.
"Business has already been very tough for small retailers, and incidents like this make things even harder.
We hope this post will also serve as a reminder to other shops to stay vigilant and prevent such cases from happening to them."
Update
In an update on Aug. 5, the user shared that the woman returned at 12:30pm that day to pay for the boots.
As such, the owner of the store decided not to pursue the case further and "believe[s] that everyone deserve[s] a second chance".
