Woman, 41, who worked in S'pore & daughter, 3, die after allegedly jumping from Pulau Ketam jetty

A Malaysian woman and her daughter reportedly jumped into the waters at Pulau Ketam in Malaysia on the morning of Aug. 6.
According to Sin Chew Daily, the 41-year-old woman was a local who worked in Singapore.
It was reported that a suicide note was discovered at their home in Shah Alam, where she cited family problems.
Former Pulau Ketam village chief, Cai Quanzhi (transliteration), told Oriental Daily News that the duo were believed to have arrived from Singapore on Aug. 5 and had checked into a hotel on the island.
He said an eyewitness saw them plunge into the water at 6am from a pavilion located near the island’s volunteer fire station.
The Star reported that a viral video has emerged, showing the woman and her three-year-old daughter walking towards the jetty at around 6:39am before they disappeared from view.
The mother and daughter were rescued at around 7 am and were given cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but ultimately could not be saved, Sin Chew reported.
The bodies will be sent to the Klang Chinese Medicine Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
Police investigations are ongoing.
