US woman comes to S'pore to find love, says S'porean men are 'brainy' & have 'good personalities'
Love is in the air.
Another American is trying to find love in Singapore.
Sarah Strain, 36, is also participating in the American reality show, "Match Me Abroad".
The show on American cable channel TLC features singles from the U.S. heading to other countries to find the love of their life.
Strain is in the same season as Harold Davis, who also hoped to find his soulmate in Singapore.
In her introductory video, Strain shares that she runs her own jewellery and accessory shop online.
She added that she has worked hard on herself and her business, and as a result, she is in a happy place and is ready to find love for herself.
Specifically in Singapore.
Checklist
Why Singapore?
Strain explained that Singaporean men "have it all going on".
She added that she "loves" the way Singaporean men treat their women with the "utmost respect" and how they are very family-oriented.
She also "loves a man" who is successful as an entrepreneur with a strong work ethic.
"Singaporean men are a triple-threat. They're brainy and have good personalities. And of course, Singaporean men are very hot."
She went on to describe her perception of Singaporean men, which is men with a thick head of hair, very masculine and very fit.
"Give me Nick Young from Crazy, Rich Asians," Sarah stated.
Ironically, the man who played Nick Young in the movie Crazy Rich Asians is Henry Golding, a British actor born in Malaysia.
First dates
After getting matched by matchmaker Dolly, Strain went on a first date with Freddy, an artist who dabbles in music and design.
However, Strain was hesitant as she "only dates successful entrepreneurs".
For dinner, Freddy took her to his favourite local food place to eat frog porridge, located in Geylang, which he described to Strain as Singapore's red light district.
Strain shared that heading to Geylang to eat at a coffee shop was not what she imagined her first date in Singapore would be like, as she expected the man to "wine and dine".
As the date continued, Strain appeared to be less impressed by Freddy when she discovered he still lived with his mother in an HDB flat.
That seemed to be a dealbreaker for her, as she questioned what their alone time would look like.
