S'pore man, 46, sexually abused elder daughter, filmed both daughters showering, gets 3 years 3 months' jail

A 46-year-old man sexually abused one of his daughters and secretly filmed both of them showering.

He was sentenced to three years and three months’ jail on Aug. 22, CNA reported.

The victims are aged 14 and 23 now.

The man cannot be named to avoid identifying his daughters, ST reported.

Engaged in sexual activity with elder daughter

Between 2019 to 2023, the father had sexual relations with his elder daughter numerous times.

He secretly recorded his two daughters showering in the toilet on at least six different occasions over 11 days in 2024.

The man got to know a 35-year-old Indonesian domestic worker through TikTok and secretly recorded an explicit video of her during a video call.

He pleaded guilty to four charges: One charge of incest and three charges of voyeurism against his daughters and the foreign domestic worker.

Another seven charges were taken into consideration during sentencing.

What he did

The man would put his phone in the toilet on video recording mode.

He used an application that masked the fact the device was recording.

The father recorded his younger daughter showering five times when she was younger than 14 years old.

The man also secretly recorded a video of the foreign domestic worker during a video call close to midnight on Jan. 28, 2024.

The woman performed a sex act for the man's viewing pleasure.

He recorded her even though he knew she did not consent to it and she had told him not to do so before the call started.

She was fully naked for eight minutes in the recording.

How he got caught

The elder daughter had asked her father to stop the sexual activities over the four years, but he initiated them and she gave in, the court heard, according to CNA.

In 2023, the man told her elder daughter not to tell others about their sexual activities, but she told her younger sister and told her not to tell others.

They kept it from their mother as the elder daughter was worried about what would happen if it was revealed.

The younger daughter had twice in 2023 seen her father lift her older sister’s pants from her thighs to the waist as she slept.

In February 2024, the man’s elder daughter told a social worker about being abused, but did not want to say more.

She also said she had told her younger sister about it, the court heard.

A police report was lodged against the father on Apr. 4, 2024 after the social worker confirmed with the younger sister about what her older sister said.

The younger sister also told the social worker about what she had witnessed.

The father's phone was seized and explicit videos of all three of his victims were found, alongside 25 obscene films, the court heard.

Penalties

The man could be jailed up to five years for incest with a close family relative.

For intentionally or knowingly recording another person doing a private act without their consent, he could be jailed up to two years, fined and caned.
