Boy, 4, nearly drowns in S'pore Pan Pacific pool, mum seeking Good Samaritans who saved child
She wants to thank them for keeping her child alive.
A four-year-old boy nearly drowned in Pan Pacific Singapore's swimming pool, but regained consciousness after Good Samaritans jumped in to the rescue him and performed CPR.
Now, the boy's mum wants to get in touch with those who jumped into action at the hotel so that she can thank them personally.
Boy regained consciousness
In an Aug. 18 post on Xiaohongshu, the boy's mum, Wang (transliteration), shared that her son, Jasper, experienced difficulty while swimming in the hotel's pool.
The incident took place on Aug. 10 at around 10am.
Speaking to Shin Min Daily News, Wang said her son was not alone at the time.
An eyewitness, who saw what happened, told Shin Min that it was a male tourist dressed in black and in a cap, who was responsible for rescuing the child.
The eyewitness said the tourist revealed that he jumped into action as his own daughter had nearly drowned before and he recognised what was happening at the moment.
Good Samaritans stepped forward
This account of rescuers stepping up was relayed by Wang in her post.
"A couple of Good Samaritans rushed over to rescue him and began performing CPR," Wang wrote.
They persisted in their efforts until her son regained consciousness and continued to stay with her son until the ambulance arrived.
A Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) spokesperson told Mothership that they received a call for assistance at 7 Raffles Boulevard, the address for Pan Pacific Singapore.
"Jasper made a full recovery and was discharged from the hospital on Aug. 12," Wang shared.
Mothership has reached out to Wang for more information.

Gratitude
"Without them, I can't imagine what could have happened. Because of their actions, Jasper is alive," Wang wrote on Xiaohongshu.
Jasper's mum shared that their entire family is grateful and want to find out the identities of the rescuers.
She told Shin Min that the scene at the time of the incident was chaotic and she was not able to note down who they were.
She made the post on Xiaohongshu in hopes of finding them through the reach of social media.
"If you are the ones who saved my child, or if you know who they are, please contact me," Wang requested.
Wang is unsure if it was one or two persons who had rendered assistance.
"We really want to tell them: 'From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for saving our kid'," Wang's post concluded.
