Broke records

It has been an excellent week for Gan at the World Aquatics Championship in Singapore.

On Jul. 26, Gan broke a nearly 16-year-old national record for the women's 400m freestyle event, previously held by Lynette Lim in December 2009.

Gan clocked a time of 4:09.81, placing 13th overall.

A couple of days later, on Jul. 28, Gan set two new national records in the women's 1,500m freestyle heats.

Gan swam in the women's 1,500m freestyle event and set a new national record with a time of 16:01.29.

Her 800m split time was 8:29.93, smashing the previous 800m freestyle record of 8:32.37.

Her timing led her to rank fourth overall and earn a spot in the finals.

Previously, during the 2024 Paris Olympics, Gan set the national record for the women's 1,500m freestyle event with a time of 16:10.13.

She also set the national record in the women's 800m freestyle event with a time of 8:32.37, narrowly missing the finals by three spots.
