A 27-year-old Singaporean man, Chin Wei Liang, Jodan, was charged with possessing over 800 Kpods intended for sale on Jul. 18.

According to CNA, Chin was alleged to be a deliveryman for Kpods.

Kpods are vapes laced with etomidate, which is an anaesthetic agent classified as a poison under the Poisons Act.

The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) previously reported that inhaling etomidate could result in side effects such as nausea, vomiting, muscle spasm and psychosis.

Chin was arrested by HSA in an operation on Jul. 10 at Bishan Street 13 .

Handed six charges

Chin was handed six charges, three for possessing Kpods or their components for sale, and another three for the possession of such items.

According to court documents, he was accused of possessing the following pods: Two ‘USDT’ assorted Kpods (grape-flavour) worth S$140; 81 pieces of assorted flavour Kpods; 114 pieces of assorted flavour ‘USDT’ Kpods; 53 pieces of assorted flavour ‘Lucifer’ Kpods; 65 pieces of assorted flavour ‘Beta XL’ Kpods; 62 pieces of assorted flavour ‘$’ Kpods; 73 pieces of assorted flavour ‘Marbo’ Kpods; 341 pieces of assorted flavour ’Zombie’ Kpods and 13 pieces of assorted flavour ‘VIP’ Kpods.

Chin also allegedly had 24 vapes without pods in his home, which he planned to sell.

Additionally, he allegedly possessed three vapes (one without pod), various vape products and components, as well as a box containing 19 "Heetsticks", which are "harmful tobacco products".

Will return to court in August

CNA reported that the prosecutor requested a six-week adjournment to allow time for the investigations to be completed.

The prosecutor further added that there was "quite a large number of what suspected to be Kpods seized from the accused" and that there was a chance that Chin would be handed more charges.

If convicted of possessing imitation tobacco products or components for sale, Chin can be jailed for up to six months or fined up to S$10,000, or both.

Repeat offenders can be jailed for up to 12 months or fined up to S$20,000, or both.

If convicted for possessing such items for purposes other than sale, Chin can be fined up to S$2,000 per charge.

He will return to court in August.
