Personal dispute with family
A spokesperson for the transport operator said the incident arose from a personal dispute between the driver and two family members she was ferrying and did not involve fare-paying passengers.
The matter will be addressed internally with disciplinary action to be taken in line with company policies, the spokesperson added.
It has since launched an investigation into the matter, noting that the driver’s actions were “unacceptable and do not reflect the professional standards we uphold”.
What video showed
The video on SG Road Vigilante Facebook showed a blue taxi stopping at a zebra crossing along Redhill Road.
A red bag was seen being flung out of the taxi onto the pavement.
A passenger exited the left rear passenger door of the cab and picked up the red bag.
It was then handed to an elderly lady who came out of the front passenger seat.
The driver could be seen removing a wheelchair from the taxi’s boot and hurling it on the pavement.
The driver then moved to close the rear passenger door and yanked the rear-seat passenger by the arm away from the vehicle before slamming the door.
The rear-seat passenger was apparently retrieving an object left behind by the elderly lady.
The elderly lady then made her way to the wheelchair before the driver slammed the boot twice.
