M’sian actress, 29, called off wedding with actor, 22, after finding out he had S$152 in bank account
She said she decided to go public with the reason as he had allegedly accessed her TikTok without her permission.
Malaysian actress Saidah Kamarudin, 29, has revealed the reason why she called off her wedding to fellow actor Muhammad Muntazar Ghufran, 22, in October 2024.
The former couple, who dated for a year, got engaged in May 2024.
Financially unstable
The actress told mStar that she found out that her ex-partner was financially unstable.
According to her, Muntazar, 22, only had RM500 (S$152) in his bank account and that was the main reason she realised the relationship would not work.
“How can you take care of someone with that amount? You shouldn’t be marrying. You should be looking for a job or continuing your studies,” she said.
Accessed her TikTok account
The actress also alleged that Muntazar accessed her TikTok account after they broke up and apparently posted fake comments under her name to damage her reputation.
Saidah said she and Muntazar used to share passwords to their social media accounts.
"After we broke up, I changed my passwords and removed all access," she said. "He wasn’t like this before and only began showing his true colours after the split.”
One of the comments he left apparently said she was taking pills due to stress and had not moved on from the breakup.
Saidah had apparently filed a police report on May 31.
She said Muntazar's actions with regards to accessing her TikTok led her to go public about the reason for breaking up.
In a TikTok, Saidah said she could tell it was Muntazar who left the comments due to the way they were phrased.
She also wrote: "“Even if I had forgotten to change my password, what gives you the right to log into my TikTok account?”
“I could’ve exposed more about you here, but I decided not to.”
Her post added: “I don’t want to give him any more attention. He loves all this temporary fame.”
“It’s better if I remain silent.”
Actor's response
In response to the accusations, Muntazar refuted Saidah's claims that he was unable to afford the wedding.
The actor told mStar separately that he has additional funds invested in unit trusts.
He said: “I already told Saidah about it, but she told me that’s investment savings and not actual money."
He added: “If it’s true that I have only RM500 in savings, how is it possible for me to pay close to RM1,000 monthly for my car while also giving my family around RM1,000?"
In an earlier Instagram story on Jun. 4, Muntazar did not confirm or deny the allegation of accessing Saidah's TikTok, but said he is choosing to remain silent for the time being to preserve his dignity.
He wrote: “I don’t want to prolong the matter. I consider this a sign from God as to why the relationship did not work out.”
