People's Power Party's (PPP) founding Central Executive Committee (CEC) member Lee Wai Leng has passed away at the age of 47.
PPP secretary general Goh Meng Seng shared the news on the party's social media page on Jun. 5.
It was not mentioned how she passed.
"Dedicated democratic warrior"
Goh said that Lee was a "dedicated democratic warrior" who started serving the country at a young age.
While pursuing her undergraduate studies at the National University of Singapore, she participated in the Democratic Social Club, a student organisation at the university.
Lee contested Ang Mo Kio GRC in the 2006 General Elections under the Workers' Party (WP).
She later provided support from the background, including writing political commentaries and serving as an emcee in rallies during the 2011 and 2015 General Elections.
Lee was "one of the 10 brave souls" who helped to establish PPP as one of its key founding CEC members in 2015, Goh wrote.
