Co-founders of local fashion brand The Closet Lover, Bertilla and Brianna Wong, announced that they will be closing their business after 17 years.

The Wong sisters, both diagnosed with lupus, an autoimmune disease, said they made this decision with a “heavy heart” and after "careful deliberation" in order to prioritise their health.

"Entrepreneurship has given us endless inspiration and excitement, but it's time for us to slow down and heal, and to embrace this next phase of life with grace," they reflected in an Instagram post on May 2.

They shared that closing this chapter is more than bittersweet and thanked their supporters for the relationships and memories made over the years.

"What began as a humble passion project has grown into something far greater than we ever imagined and it is all thanks to your continued support. We are deeply grateful to have had you on this journey with us."

The Closet Lover first started out as an online blogshop, but has since grown to have three retail outlets at Bugis Junction, Takashimaya Shopping Centre and Tampines 1.

Their website and stores will remain open till Jun. 15, 2025.
