People's Power Party chief Goh Meng Seng declared his intentions to contest in Marine Parade-Braddell Heights GRC in the next election.

Goh spoke to the media outside St Hilda's Secondary School in Tampines, one of the counting centres for the 2025 General Election shortly after voting closed on May. 3.

“But as I've said in my last rally, whatever the results come out for this election, we will work to build our party, and we will contest in Marine Parade-Braddell Heights in the next election," he was quoted by CNA as saying.

At a doorstop on Nomination Day, Goh had expressed his displeasure at the Workers' Party for not contesting Marine Parade-Braddell Heights this year.

"Anger filled up my mind, sadness [came] to my eyes in tears and disappointment," Goh said of the walkover to the media then.

"It is very ironic that the slogan of Workers' Party is working for Singapore. But do you really work for Singapore when you deprive 130,000 voters [of] their right to vote?"

Support not enough to push through this time round: Goh

Goh said he visited some of the polling stations today and found the voting process "smooth", reported CNA.

On his team's performance this time round, Goh said:

"I'm sure that there are people out there, whether it's on Facebook ... who are actually quite supportive of our campaign. However, I think that that may not be enough, right, to push through for this time round."

Goh is contesting Tampines GRC in the election's sole four-way fight with team members Peter Soh, Derrick Sim, Vere Nathan, and Arbaah Haroun.

Other parties contesting the GRC are the People's Action Party, Workers' Party and National Solidarity Party.
