8:00 PM - Polls have closed

The polls have closed across Singapore.

End of polling

Polling started at 8am and ended at 8pm.

48 per cent of eligible voters had cast a vote by 12pm.

82 per cent of eligible voters had voted by 5pm.

Sample counts are expected to come in later tonight, at around 11pm.

While the expected margin of error is +/- four percentage points, members of the public should wait for the official announcement by the Returning Officer, which will be broadcasted live on television.

What are sample counts?

Prior to the final tally being broadcast, the sample count is published by the ELD.

According to ELD, the sample count is released in order to prevent speculation and misinformation from unofficial sources while counting is underway.

The sample count provides an indication of the results in each constituency, which are obtained by:

  • Picking a random bundle of 100 ballot papers from each polling station. Counting the 100 votes, with candidates and counting agents present.
  • Adding up the votes for each candidate or GRC team, giving more weightage to the bundles from polling stations where more votes were cast.

The final tally will be released later.

Here are the sights from all the voting earlier today.

So what happened today?

Started off rainy, but the weather got better throughout.

Some took time off their big day to vote.

Others took a break from their break.

But vote they did.

And then maybe just a short little trip over this long weekend.

And now that everything has played out, all that's left is the results.

Where to watch?

If you intend to watch the results unfold with a lot of other people, take a gander at these assembly centers.

People's Action Party (PAP): Bedok Stadium, Bukit Gombak Stadium, and Yio Chu Kang Stadium

Singapore Democratic Party (SDP): MOE (Evans) Stadium

Workers' Party (WP): Serangoon Stadium

The assembly centres will be opened between the closing of the polls at 8pm and until 30 minutes after the announcement of the final electoral result of the General Election 2025.
