People's Action Party's (PAP) Ng Chee Meng makes political comeback after his GE 2020 loss, beating Workers' Party's (WP) Andre Low in Jalan Kayu SMC by just 806 votes.
PAP got 14,113 votes (51.47 per cent) while WP got 13,307 votes (48.53 per cent).
Ng's political comeback
Ng is the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) secretary-general and will be replacing incumbents Ng Ling Ling and Gan Thiam Poh, who looked after different parts of the Jalan Kayu ward in Ang Mo Kio GRC.
Jalan Kayu SMC was newly formed after the Electoral Boundaries Review Committee (EBRC) report was published.
This will be Ng's political comeback following his loss in 2020.
He was the Member of Parliament representing the Punggol North ward of the then Pasir Ris–Punggol GRC between 2015 and 2020.
In the 2020 general election, his team lost to the opposition Workers' Party team.
Low is likely to be a non-constituency Member of Parliament (NCMP) based on the vote shares announced so far.
