One man, who was dining at Marsiling Mall Hawker Centre, allegedly beat up another man who was ordering food, leaving behind a pool of blood on the ground.

The incident occurred on May 27 at around 8pm, Shin Min Daily News reported.

According to eyewitnesses, the alleged assault occurred after both man bumped into each other and got annoyed.

Walked into each other

The victim was apparently walking towards a noodles stall to buy food and crossed paths with the aggressor, who was holding his food and about to sit down to consume it.

The aggressor sat down to eat, but the victim, who was in a queue to buy food, was seen grumbling and gesticulating for about two minutes.

The diner then stood up with arms akimbo.

Both men then stared at each other.

The diner, who was older, then allegedly punched the other man, causing him to fall to the ground holding his head.

Arrest made

The police confirmed that a 23-year-old man was sent to hospital in a conscious state, and a 30-year-old man was arrested.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Eyewitness accounts

A hawker who witnessed the incident said the parents of the injured man were at the scene.

A woman, who was the mother of the injured man, screamed and asked the aggressor to stop.

She also stepped forward to protect her son.

Other diners at the scene stepped in to pull the two men apart.

A female hawker handed tissue to the injured man to stem the bleeding.

She told Shin Min: "The weather has been hot recently, which can easily make people irritable. People should be in a good mood when they go out to eat. It's not supposed to be deep hatred. I hope everyone can be calm."
