'Nowhere on Earth is safe': Trump slaps tariff on 2 small islands with no humans, only penguins
Tough.
Trump has taken a scattershot approach to tariffs.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, commenting on the tariffs, said that "Nowhere on earth is safe".
That apparently is no hyperbole.
Two of the islands targeted in the tariff spree are two small islands called The Heard and McDonald Islands.
According to The Guardian, the two islands, external territories of Australia, are among the remotest places on Earth.
It takes a two-week boat ride from Perth, and the last visit from people to the islands are believed to have occurred nearly 10 years ago.
They are known for their penguin population, being referred to as a Penguin Paradise.
The White House told Politico that these islands were listed because they are Australian territories.
The islands are listed separately from Australia in the White House list.
Here's a list of all the countries affected by the tariffs.
