World record holder.
Singapore's top long-distance runner, Soh Rui Yong, 33, has set the Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon in a suit.
"World record holder," Soh wrote on a Facebook post dated Apr. 27.
In the post, Soh was seen being awarded the Guinness World Record certificate.
He completed the London Marathon in a suit in a record time of 2 hours 39 minutes 57 seconds.
Soh said he was wearing a suit from Boss.
Beat previous record runner from France
The previous Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon completed in a full suit was held by Emmanuel Bonnier from France, with a time of 2:40:52.
He had set the record in Tours, France, on Sep. 24, 2023.
Soh expressed his intention at the world record attempt on a Facebook post dated Apr. 24.
"I have broken national records 12 times in my career. This will be the first attempt at a world record," Soh wrote.
"Running 42.195km in 3 layers, the main challenge will be managing the buildup of heat in my body... But I think my years of training and racing marathons in the Singapore heat and humidity have prepared me well for this very challenge."
