2 cars caught in huge blaze on PIE, SCDF investigating cause
One car appeared to have rear-ended another.
Drivers on the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) witnessed a blazing inferno as two cars caught fire on Apr. 28 morning.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told Mothership that at about 7:20am, SCDF was alerted to a fire along PIE towards Changi Airport, after the Paya Lebar Road exit.
One person suffered minor injuries but declined to be sent to the hospital.
The blaze
In footage taken by another driver, plumes of smoke could be seen coming from a black car on the right-most lane of the expressway.
The fire had also spread to a white car in front of it.

A video of the aftermath showed that police had cordoned off two lanes of the expressway.

The remains of the two burnt vehicles were seen on the right-most lane of the expressway.
An SCDF fire engine and multiple SCDF personnel were at the scene.
SCDF told Mothership that SCDF personnel extinguished the fire using a water jet and a compressed air foam backpack.
SCDF assessed a person for minor injuries but the person declined to be sent to the hospital.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
