Remember Archie?

The pomeranian was rescued by HOPE Dog Rescue after living in a filthy, poop-caked enclosure for five years.

Archie had apparently been passed through the hands of various owners. Its first two owners died, and he was taken into the care of a family member who "wasn't into dogs" and "did the minimal".

Five months after his rescue, Archie was adopted by a woman and her family in July 2024.

"They said he was the cutest and well-behaved, that they were so in love with him and how much the kids loved him," HOPE said in an Apr. 28 Facebook post.

But that didn't last.

Rough patch

When HOPE texted the family in March to check in on Archie, they were met with silence.

Two weeks ago, the woman messaged them and said she was going through a rough patch and had left Singapore with her kids.

She had passed Archie on to the grandparents, and said he was "well taken care of".

The group arranged a home visit.

"As we walked into the house, an overweight Archie greeted us in a playpen. Withdrawn and quiet, his sadness was obvious. It didn't seem like he was getting much walks or outdoor exposure."

"Our hearts broke — it was almost like history repeating itself in the same situation we found him."

HOPE took Archie back and rushed him to the vet. Fortunately, apart from a bad ear infection, he was in good physical condition.

He is currently with a fosterer, the group said.

Up for adoption again

The group said it would "let him heal" before putting Archie up for adoption again.

"This time, we hope it is really forever because his little heart cannot take another abandonment," they said.

If you're interested in helping out with Archie's vet bill or giving him a furever home, you can reach out to HOPE Dog Rescue at [email protected] or register your adoption interest online.
