Kawal Pal Singh, ex-PAP MP Inderjit Singh's nephew, says he's not running in GE2025
He said he wants to focus on his career and young family.
Kawal Pal Singh, a People's Action Party (PAP) new face on the ground, said he will not be running in the 2025 general election after all.
His announcement came two days after he was spotted with Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat in Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC.
The 41-year-old lawyer is the nephew of former PAP MP Inderjit Singh, who was part of the Ang Mo Kio GRC slate of MPs from 1996 to 2015.
In a Apr. 15 Facebook post, Kawal Pal Singh, who is a long-time PAP member, wrote: "As for the speculation surrounding my involvement in the coming GE, I am here to share that after discussing with my family and my uncle Inderjit Singh, I will not be involved in the GE as a candidate."
He added that he is going to focus on his profession and young family: "At this stage of my life, I want to focus on balancing my professional commitments with time for my young family."
"I will continue to support the PAP in other meaningful ways and remain committed to serving both the Sikh and wider Indian communities," he added.
Kawal Pal Singh's appearance in Toa Payoh on Apr. 13 had sparked talk that he could run.
The managing partner at law firm Tito Isaac & Co added that he received many messages of support and encouragement after the visit.
Singh was previously a PAP volunteer in Sengkang.
