China has cancelled 12,030 metric tons of pork orders from the U.S., the largest cancellation since the pandemic.
China was the third largest market for pork exports from the U.S. according to The Hill.
This comes after China's trade deal with Spain expanding what pork could be exported to China.
According to Bloomberg, Pork imports from U.S. are currently facing a 172 per cent tariff.
U.S. president Donald Trump had said on Apr. 24 that the U.S. and China had met to talk about easing the ongoing trade war, after a statement by Beijing said no such meeting took place, Reuters reported.
China on Thursday said it had not held trade talks with the U.S. in the face of repeated comments from the U.S. that there had been engagement.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun told reporters at a news briefing that reports of such information are “fake news”.
