A cyclist, who cycled across a road in Punggol when the traffic light was not in his favour, got hit by a car.

The cyclist and his bicycle were sent flying at the junction of Punggol Central and Edgefield Plains.

According to a video uploaded on Facebook on Mar. 5, the cyclist could be seen cycling along the pedestrian crossing along Edgefield Plains.

However, the traffic light was in favour of vehicles travelling along Punggol Central at the time.

The cyclist got hit after he was more than halfway across the road.

An object, which appeared to be the cyclist's footwear, was sent flying.

The cyclist appeared to get up on his feet after he was hit.

He then picked up his belongings and remnants of his bicycle before making his way to the side of the road.

Two motorcyclists who were waiting to turn right at the junction did not appear to budge or attempt to help the cyclist.

Responses

Responses to the video unanimously condemned the actions of the cyclist.

Commenters said the car driver has to bear the brunt of the consequences of the cyclist's rule-breaking.

Other commenters highlighted the lack of reaction from the two motorcyclists and said they would likely have reacted the same way.

About a fortnight ago, a similar incident also occurred in Punggol.

A car hit a cyclist who rode across the road when the traffic light was not in his favour.

The youth was conveyed conscious to the hospital in this instance.
