On Oct. 24, 2023, a man consumed methamphetamine at home before heading to his pre-trial conference at the States Court over other charges.

Just before he was due to appear in court for a hearing, he decided to hide a packet of drugs in the bushes outside the State Courts building.

He had intended to retrieve the packet, which contained methamphetamine and other items, after his hearing, CNA reported.

Unfortunately for Sajan Oberoi, 35, he was spotted by police officers at the court.

According to CNA, the Indian national and Singapore Permanent Resident pleaded guilty to five charges, two of which were drug-related.

Another 15 charges, including drug offences, criminal intimidation, and the use of criminal force, were considered during his sentencing.

He was ultimately sentenced to one year and 10 weeks in jail on Mar. 7, 2025.

Apart from the drug offences, Sajan also admitted to a series of other offences.

These include hitting a 35-year-old man on the side of his head with a beer bottle at a bar in Boat Quay on Aug. 17, 2024, and molesting a 35-year-old female server at a bar in 2023.
