Police arrest man, 41, in Whampoa for allegedly assaulting officer with baseball bat & mug
The 49-year-old police officer sustained injuries to his head and wrist.

The police have arrested a 41-year-old man for allegedly attacking and injuring a police officer, as well as for other various offences.
The police received a call for assistance in the vicinity of Block 81 Whampoa Drive on Feb. 15 at about 7:35pm, a release on Feb. 16 said.
Members of the public witnessed a man attempting to hit a woman with a baton, but the man managed to flee the scene before the arrival of police officers.
The identity and location of the suspect was established through follow-up investigations by officers from Tanglin Police Division.
Turned aggressive when confronted
When confronted, the suspect refused to cooperate and turned aggressive.
During the arrest, the man allegedly assaulted one officer with a baseball bat and threw a mug at him.
The 49-year-old officer sustained injuries to his head and wrist, and was subsequently discharged with two days of medical leave.
To be charged
The man will be charged in court on Feb. 17 for attempted voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons, as well as voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from the discharge of his duty.
The man is also under investigation for criminal intimidation, causing hurt by an act that endangers the personal safety of others, an intentionally causing harassment.
For voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons, the man could be jailed up to seven years, fined, or caned, or face a combination of punishments.
The same punishment also applies if he is found guilty of voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from the discharge of his duty.
For criminal intimidation, the man could be jailed for up to 10 years or fined, or both.
For causing hurt by an act that endangers the personal safety of others, he could be jailed up to one year, and fined or both.
For intentionally causing harassment, he could be jailed up to six months, fined, or both.
The police said they have zero tolerance towards such acts of violence against police officers or public servants who are carrying out their duties, and will not hesitate to take firm actions against those who endanger the safety of officers.
