It took place during the wee hours of the morning at about 2:40am on Feb. 20, 2025, in Klang, Selangor, Malaysia.

Parked on the roadside near a hospital in Raja Muda Musa, was a police patrol car.

Most people would have simply walked past the parked Honda City vehicle, clearly emblazoned with the insignia of the Malaysian police.

Some might have instinctively been on their best behaviour.

Yet, one man seems to have been dubiously inspired by the sight of this police car.

He allegedly managed to get into the car, China Press reported.

And then, having gotten into the car, managed to commandeer it.

Later, two police officers dialled the Klang South District Police Headquarters to report that a Chinese man had somehow driven away in a police car.

Police have since launched an investigation into the alleged theft, and are currently tracking the whereabouts of the suspect.

Not the first police car stolen in Selangor

This is not the first time a police car has been stolen in Selangor.

Back in February 2023, a robbery suspect stole an unmarked police vehicle to escape pursuing detectives, Free Malaysia Today reported.

The suspect then led police on a 30-kilometre high-speed between Banting and Klang.

Speeding recklessly over a speed bump, his car flipped on its side and he abandoned it, fleeing on foot to a nearby village.

While police ran after him, the robber managed to double back and, incredibly, hop into the car of the police who had been chasing him.

With police firing shots at him, the man sped off.

The man was eventually arrested near Jalan Kem, Port Klang.
