S'porean man, 29, rapes stepdaughter, 11, makes her film him & her mother having sex
The man was sentenced to 15 years in jail and 12 strokes of the cane.

A Singaporean man raped and sexually assaulted his stepdaughter over the course of two months when she was 11.
He also told the victim to film him and her mother having sex, which the girl complied with as she felt relieved the accused would not assault her again.
The man was sentenced to 15 years in jail and 12 strokes of the cane on Feb. 24 after he pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated rape, sexual exploitation of a child, and engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a minor.
Another nine charges of offences against the same victim were considered during sentencing.
A gag order was implemented to protect the identities of the victim, now 13, and her mother.
Raped and assaulted the victim
The victim's biological mother had three children, the victim and her two brothers, from her previous marriage.
The family—together with the accused—moved to a one-bedroom unit in February 2019, with the bedroom occupied by the victim's two brothers.
The accused and the victim's mother married in July 2019.
While the victim slept on the sofa in the living room, the accused and the victim's mother slept on a mattress on the floor beside her.
In November 2022, the accused was having sex with the victim's mother and was interrupted when the victim entered the room.
The accused was frustrated and decided to masturbate while watching porn.
He did not stop after noticing the victim watching him. He proceeded to rape and assault the victim.
After the incident, the accused told the victim not to tell anyone what happened.
He claimed that he did that because she interrupted him when he was having sex with her mother.
The victim was uncomfortable but she was afraid her mother would be angry with her or the accused.
A few days later, the accused texted the victim, asking if she wanted to "do it again". She refused.
Undeterred, he then told the victim to "watch" him as he masturbated, then proceeded to assault her.
The accused instructed the victim to perform a sex act on him, which she complied with as she feared the accused's displeasure if she refused.
He then told her to wash her hands and apologised to her.
Accused told victim to film him and her mother having sex
Sometime in November 2022, the accused texted the victim instructing her to film him and her mother having sex.
The victim complied as she felt relieved that the accused was not going to engage in any sexual acts with her.
The accused sent the victim numerous videos of the accused and her mother having sex to instruct the victim on what and how he wanted the act to be recorded.
Later that night, the victim hid under a blanket and recorded the act.
Victim confided in brother about what happened in December 2022
The victim confided in her brother what had happened in December 2022, and the brother told her it was right of her to refuse the accused.
The victim's brother wanted her to tell their mother, but the victim asked him not to as she was afraid it would hurt her mother's feelings.
Days later, the accused texted the victim asking her to perform sex acts, to which she refused both times. He then apologised to her.
The victim's brother then told their mother that the accused had done something wrong to the victim in January 2023, and the victim told her what happened.
After discussing with her mother and brother, the victim agreed to forgive the accused to avoid breaking the family apart, and the accused continued living with them.
Four months later, when the victim was attending a tuition class at a social service agency on May 11, 2023, the tuition teacher noticed what appeared to be self-inflicted cuts on the victim's left forearm.
The victim claimed the cuts were from cat scratches, but the teacher was unconvinced and took her to see a female social worker.
When probed by the social worker, the victim admitted her cuts were self-inflicted by razor blades, explaining that she felt worthless and useless and was stressed about her studies.
The victim also said she thought about killing herself by overdosing on medication.
The social worker met the victim's mother later that night when the mother revealed the abuse the victim went through, and that the victim agreed to give the accused a second chance.
The social worker spoke to the victim and the latter confirmed that the accused touched her inappropriately and asked her to perform sexual acts on him.
The social worker brought the victim to be examined at the KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, leading to a police report lodged.
The accused was arrested on May 12, 2023, and was remanded since.
The victim expressed concerns after police investigations began that the matter would tear the family apart.
The victim now lives with her mother and brothers. Her mother is not currently facing any criminal prosecution.
Accused's actions were "heinous" and "depraved": Justice Aidan Xu
Justice Aidan Xu @ Aedit Abdullah addressed the accused directly during his brief oral remarks, CNA reported.
The crimes that the accused committed against his stepdaughter were "heinous" and "depraved", said Xu, who reprimanded the man for robbing the victim of her innocence when she was only 11 years old.
The harm and damage caused to the victim were clear in her reaction when the accused asked her to record him and her mother, said Xu, adding that her relieved reaction was "heartbreaking".
Xu called the offence "especially depraved behaviour" for exposing the victim to a sexual act between her parents.
He also commended the tuition teacher and social worker for their vigilance and expressed his hope that victim will recover over time.
