A Japanese woman who allegedly kissed South Korean group BTS member Jin on the cheek during a free hug event in June 2024 has been booked by police.

Local police said the woman in her 50s was booked and summoned for questioning on charges of sexual harassment in a public space, reported The Korea Times.

Allegedly kissed on cheek

According to police investigations, the fan allegedly kissed the star on the cheek during a meet-and-greet event held in commemoration of his discharge from the military and the band's 11th anniversary.

The free hug session, held on Jun. 13, was exclusive to 1,000 fans.

Following the meet-and-greet, footage of a fan appearing to kiss Jin went viral online.

Fans were especially outraged after seeing his discomfort, with one fan writing in an online fan community that they have made a police report on the matter.

The fan reportedly wrote in an online blog post, "My lips touched his neck. His skin was so soft."

Woman uncooperative

With help from the Japanese police, the South Korean authorities identified the woman and booked her in January 2025.

However, she has reportedly been uncooperative and has not responded to summons for questioning.

Investigators are reportedly considering calling in Jin to provide a victim statement.
