Coldplay puts S'pore front & centre in 'Man In The Moon' music video
Filmed in partnership with Warner Music Singapore and Singapore Tourism Board.
On Feb. 7, Coldplay released its "Man In The Moon" music video, which was shot in Singapore.
The song is currently trending at number nine on YouTube less than half a day after it was released.
The British band shot the video in January 2024 while in Singapore for their Music of the Spheres World Tour, where they performed six sold-out shows.
Regular places featured
The video featured a public housing estate in the MacPherson heartland area, as well as Mountain Coffee, a coffee shop in Geylang.
It also had scenes of Jewel Changi Airport, S.E.A. Aquarium at Resorts World Sentosa, and Fort Canning Park.
"Man In The Moon" was filmed in partnership with Warner Music Singapore and Singapore Tourism Board (STB).
The band said in a statement:
“While we were in Singapore, we shot the video and captured some of the amazing, young, vibrant people whom we had met. We are interested in shooting things in places we have never filmed before and mixing people up as much as possible. It was really fun to have a kind of dance party out in the middle of the water, just us and the otters.”
The statement added that the multicultural aspect of the music video embodies the song's “theme of unity and shared experiences transcending individual differences”.
The track is from Moon Music (Full Moon Edition), a bonus edition of their 10th studio album Moon Music (2024).
Part of STB projects
The music video is the latest in a series of STB projects.
Billie Eilish, Charlie Puth, OneRepublic, as well as Jackson Wang have filmed at various locations in Singapore.
"The Man In The Moon" music video was directed by Los Angeles-based director Ben Mor, who also worked on Coldplay’s "Hymn For The Weekend" (2015) music video.
