Convertible ploughs into verge with bushes at Sims Way, male driver, 32, sent to hospital

The force of the crash bent back the roadside barrier across the pedestrian footpath.

A convertible sports car veered off the road, crashing into a verge with bushes near the entrance to the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) on Jan. 24.

Crash at junction of Guillemard Road and Sims Way

A video posted to the Singapore Roads Accident.com Facebook page showed the aftermath of the crash.

The caption described the location of the accident as the entrance to the KPE via the Merdeka Bridge.

The car appeared to have gone up the verge closer to Sims Way, which travels in the opposite direction.

Roadside barrier bent back across pedestrian footpath

It is unclear how exactly the accident occurred.

The car, a white convertible sports car with the top down, looked to be totalled, with the front end of the car badly crumpled.

It had not only mounted the curb, but also managed to plough through a row of bushes and a roadside barrier, past a pedestrian walkway.

The video showed a traffic police motorcycle, fire engine and ambulance in attendance, with their lights on.

Emergency personnel were seen in the vicinity.

In response to Mothership's queries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed that the incident had taken place on Jan. 24, 2025 at about 8:45pm, at the junction of Guillemard Road and Sims Way.

The Singapore Police Force (SPF), also responding to Mothership's queries, said that the car was believed to have self-skidded along Mountbatten Road towards Sims Way.

The driver, a 32-year-old male, was conveyed conscious to Tan Tock Seng hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing.
