The likelihood of smoke haze affecting Singapore on Oct. 27 is low, the National Environment Agency (NEA) said in an Oct. 26 advisory.
This is because prevailing winds are expected to blow from the northeast or southeast and showers are expected over Singapore and the vicinity, NEA added.
It pointed out that smoke haze was observed but confined over Kalimantan.
Forecast
The agency said that on Oct. 28 and Oct. 29, winds are forecast to become variable, with showers expected over Singapore and the surrounding region.
It added that the wet conditions should help keep hotspot and smoke haze activity suppressed.
As of 6pm on Oct. 26, the 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) of 67 to 74 had entered the Moderate range, the advisory noted.
The 1-hour PM2.5 concentration readings were also in the Normal band.
Oct. 27
NEA's website noted that this remained consistent across the island as of 11am on Oct. 27.
The 24-hour PSI also remained in the good to moderate range, with the PSI value in all regions from central (64), north (61), south (63), east (61) and west (72) remaining under 100.

The agency noted that this means it is safe to continue with normal activities.
It added that members of the public may visit its haze microsite, the NEA website, Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) website, myENV mobile app or follow NEA on Facebook for updates.
For information on the distribution of hotspots detected over the past fortnight in the region, they may refer to the ASEAN Specialised Meteorological Centre (ASMC) website.
