Audi driver confronts lorry driver in middle of Thomson Road, police investigations ongoing

Two drivers, aged 35 and 52, are assisting with police investigations following a road rage incident in Singapore on Sep. 1.

The two men are assisting with investigations into alleged offences under the Protection from Harassment Act 2014.

The 35-year-old driver is also assisting with investigations into voluntarily causing hurt.

What video showed

In a video uploaded by SG Road Vigilante, an Audi driver and a lorry driver were seen stopped in the middle of Thomson Road, exchanging vulgarities.

The police told Mothership that they received a call for assistance along Thomson Road at about 3:50pm that day.

The 52-year-old man was conscious when he was conveyed to hospital.

Road rage

Dashcam footage from the lorry showed that the lorry driver was driving in the middle lane and started engaging in an expletive-laden exchange with another vehicle to his left.

The Audi driver then drove forward and stopped.

The Audi driver then walked towards the lorry driver, and angrily asked why the latter had pointed his middle finger at him.

The lorry driver replied that he could not stop in the middle of the road and told the Audi driver not to speak to him in that manner.

The exchange continued until what sounded like a scuffle was heard off-camera.

A video filmed by the lorry driver also showed the Audi driver appearing to knock the recording device out of the way.

The lorry driver then alighted from his vehicle to confront the Audi driver.

He stood in front of the Audi while appearing to make a phone call.

The Audi driver continued to scold the lorry driver, pointing and gesturing at him.

He then got back into his car and drove off, while the lorry driver remained on the phone.

Comments on the video were divided, with some noting that the full footage would be needed to determine what led to the altercation.
