Satay by the Bay closing down from Oct. 1, 2026, new wetlands attraction to replace it

Satay by the Bay will close down on Oct. 1, 2026.

It opened in 2013.

The 1,000-seat open-air food court at Gardens by the Bay will make way for the upcoming Wetlands by the Bay development, Gardens by the Bay said in a social media post on Sep. 1.

The Satay by the Bay team thanked customers in an Instagram post on Aug. 28.

The last day of operations will be on Sep. 30.

Background

Wetlands by the Bay, measuring seven football fields, would open in stages from end-2028, Minister of State for National Development Alvin Tan previously said in parliament on Mar. 4.

Satay by the Bay, a car park and a nursery will be absorbed along with the existing Kingfisher Wetlands, which is one-third the size of the to-be-completed Wetlands by the Bay.

A new two-storey dining block, slated to open in 2028, will replace Satay by the Bay.

Satay by the Bay began as Satay Club off Beach Road in the late 1940s, according to the National Library Board website.

It moved to the Esplanade area in the 1970s.

The stalls then moved again in 1994 to make way for the development of Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay and the Nicoll Highway extension.

Eight of the 28 stalls moved to Clarke Quay Satay Club, which shut in 2005.

Satay by the Bay had eight stalls serving satay.
