A 47-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly hurting her 13-year-old child at a shopping mall in Havelock on Aug. 12.

In response to Mothership's queries, police said they received a call for assistance at 2 Havelock Road at around 2:30pm that day.

A check by Mothership showed that the address corresponds to Havelock 2 shopping mall.

The woman was arrested for voluntarily causing hurt to a person below the age of 14.

Separately, the Singapore Civil Defence Force said it conveyed the 13-year-old girl to National University Hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Photos purportedly show aftermath

Photos purportedly showing the aftermath of the incident were sent to Mothership by a woman who said she runs a shop in the mall and witnessed what happened.

The woman alleged that the mother had hit her child in the public area. A staff member from a tuition centre there was allegedly with the pair during the incident.

The photos show several police officers standing in a corridor at the shopping mall.
