An incoming Skudai state assemblywoman, Jati, posted on Facebook that Liu was said to have lost contact after arriving at a mall around 12pm on Jul. 29.

She told Sin Chew in a Aug. 4 phone interview that she received news from Liu's family on Aug. 3 stated that his body had been found.

On Aug. 4, she also urged via a Facebook post that the public would stop forwarding posts and videos about the discovery of the body.
