A 50-year-old Malaysian man allegedly slashed his wife repeatedly with a parang after seeing her speak to a male neighbour.

According to The Star, the mother of six, 40, suffered 14 slash wounds across her body, including on her neck.

She is reportedly in critical but stable condition.

A manhunt is underway to find the suspect.

Incident

The incident occurred in Sabah, Malaysia on Jun. 25 at about 9:30am, according to Malaysia media.

The man, an Indonesian national who had been married to the victim for 19 years, apparently became jealous after seeing his wife talk to their male neighbour from within their home compound.

The suspect had reportedly told her not to talk to the neighbour, but a heated argument began when the victim denied doing so.

"The suspect, believed to be angered, took a parang from the kitchen before attacking the victim," said a police officer in charge of the investigations.

The victim's niece later found the victim in a pool of blood and a neighbour called the police.

According to the police, the woman said the incident stemmed from her husband's jealousy.

The suspect had also allegedly often accused his wife of having an affair with a neighbour, which she denied, said the police.
