Elderly women fight with, spit at younger woman on Shanghai metro after she allegedly refused to give up train seat

Two elderly women were filmed in a physical altercation with a younger lady on the metro in Shanghai over her refusal to give up her train seat.

According to a post on Sohu, the elderly women had reportedly asked the lady to offer her seat to one of them, but the lady refused, explaining that she was having her period and felt unwell.

The lady also allegedly commented that the elderly woman did not look that old and should feel alright standing, which triggered a physical confrontation.

The incident took place on May 8.

Crowded cabin

In a video circulating on social media, the lady and the elderly woman seated beside her could be seen yelling at each other in a packed train cabin.

A second elderly woman, who was standing, could be seen attempting to restrain the lady.

The two seated women appeared to be arguing about who started the fight.

Things eventually escalated, and the seated elderly could be seen grabbing a lock of the lady's hair.

The tussle between the seated women spilt over as they bumped into the adjacent commuters.

At one point, the seated elderly woman could be seen spitting at the lady.

SETN reported that local police have issued a warning regarding the incident.
