S'porean man, 25, shared intimate videos of fiancée with online users & discussed swapping partners, gets 19 months' jail

Three years into their relationship, a woman discovered that her fiancé had been sharing nude photos and videos of her in online chat groups.

According to charge documents seen by Mothership, he sent photos and videos of the woman's bare chest, butt, and vagina to a Telegram user and a Discord user sometime in July 2024.

To the Discord user, he also sent a video of her performing a sexual act.

On Apr. 28, he pleaded guilty to six charges of intentionally distributing intimate images or recordings without the woman's consent, with reasons to believe it would likely cause her humiliation.

Another seven charges were taken into consideration, among them a voyeurism offence for filming the woman naked without her consent.

He was sentenced to 19 months in prison, starting on May 12.

Exchanged intimate media with each other

The couple, who began dating in March 2021, was engaged at the time of the offences, according to Shin Min Daily News.

During their relationship, they would sometimes exchange nude photos and videos of each other, some of them showing their faces.

However, the woman was unaware that her fiancé was sharing such media of her with strangers online.

The discovery

In August 2024, she was using his computer at his house one day while he was in the shower.

A Telegram notification popped up, and she clicked on it out of curiosity. In his chat history, she found two chat groups that distributed women's nude photos and sexual videos.

In one of these groups, she saw nude photos and videos of herself shared by her fiancé. He had also privately sent them to a user in the group.

Privately to this user, her fiancé also talked about his sexual fantasies of girlfriend swapping and having a threesome, Shin Min reported.

Confrontation

The woman confronted her fiancé on the spot, and he admitted that he started sharing the nude photos and videos of her about a month before.

He later exited the chat groups and reported them to Telegram. He also cut off contact with the Telegram user he talked to and deleted the files in their chat history.

Nonetheless, the woman decided to call the police. Before the man deleted them, she had already taken screenshots of the chat history and sent the screenshots to her phone.

Further investigation by the police revealed that the man had first learned about the Telegram chat groups through Discord. He admitted to distributing intimate photos of his fiancée on Discord as well.

In early 2024, he began discussing sexual topics and exchanging nude photos of women with a Telegram user from one of the groups.

Betrayed and humiliated

After this revelation, the woman broke off the relationship.

According to Shin Min, she was shocked, betrayed, and humiliated by the man's actions, which have scarred her.

She has sought treatment for panic disorder and feelings of fear and shame.
