S'pore man, 29, grabs steering wheel & crashes friend's car after she asked him to pay S$130 fine for waiting at taxi stand
Steering.
A 29-year-old man, Koh Junxiang, asked his friend to pick him up at a taxi stand.
This led to her getting a S$130 fine.
The man refused to pay the fine and got into an argument with his friend.
According to court documents, he then got hold of the steering wheel twice, causing the car to eventually crash into a guardrail along the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) near Tuas.
According to Shin Min Daily News, the pair had attended a workshop that day and were heading to Plaza Singapura.
They went their separate ways, but agreed to meet each other later.
The man later called his friend and asked her to drive to a taxi stand in Bugis to pick him up.
However, when she arrived, he was nowhere to be found.
This led to a S$130 fine.
Koh then asked her to pick him up at a nearby hotel instead.
In the car, the two argued over the ticket.
The woman asked Koh to foot the fine, but he refused.
The two continued arguing, and while the car was travelling on the PIE, Koh suddenly reached out twice to "grab" the steering wheel, causing the car to crash into a bus travelling on the left lane.
The car then crashed into the guardrail on the left side of the road before coming to a stop.
Koh faced two charges of reckless driving and has pleaded guilty to one of the charges.
