Singapore activist, Kokila Annamalai, will be charged on Apr. 23 for failing to comply with a correction direction issued under the Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act (POFMA).
According to a press release from the POFMA Office, she will be charged with one count of failing to comply with the direction without a reasonable excuse.
The woman's identity was not shared by the POFMA Office, but CNA reported that Kokila is the woman in question, and the second person to be charged under POFMA.
Kokila made several posts on Oct. 2 and Oct. 3, 2024, on Facebook and X.
She made false claims that "the Singapore government schedules and stays executions arbitarily without regard for due legal process".
She also falsely claimed that the State "does not bear the legal burden of proving a drug trafficking charge against the accused person".
She was issued a correction direction on Oct. 5, 2024, to carry correction notices on her posts, which she allegedly did not comply with.
