Meet River Wonders' new capybara pup & join themed activities from Apr. 3

From Apr. 3 to May 3, River Wonders is celebrating the 100-day milestone of its new capybara pup, and everyone is invited to join in the festivities.

Ollie, the male pup, was one of two born on Jan. 4 to parents Muniek and Luna — the first capybaras born at Mandai Wildlife Reserve in a decade.

The other pup, a female, did not survive the critical early weeks and passed away at about three weeks old, Mandai said on Mar. 19.

The surviving pup remains healthy and active.

With Ollie, River Wonders is now home to 12 capybaras.

Meet the capybaras

As part of the month-long festivities, visitors can meet Ollie and the rest of the capybara family at the Amazonia Encounters attraction.

During scheduled sessions, the rodents will be given specially crafted items such as an ice cake and woven fire hose reels filled with treats.

While watching them, the audience will learn insights from keepers about the capybaras' unique behaviours and how they are cared for.

Catch the furry crew showcasing their talents at the Once Upon a River presentation, and chilling out around the park along the Amazon River Quest boat ride.

Get your cameras ready, as there will be a social media contest with prizes to be won.

Share a photo or video of any of the capybaras in the park in cute and quirky moments, and include the name of your favourite.

Six lucky winners will receive an admission ticket to River Wonders, an exclusive Capybara Zookeeper for a Day experience, and get to interact with the capybaras up close.

Other themed activities

Visitors can also join a Capy Crew Trail across River Wonders to discover more fun facts about these fascinating creatures at each checkpoint.

Those who complete the trail can redeem a limited-edition capybara handphone strap and a refreshing Ribena slushie at the end.

There will also be more capybara-themed treats, such as capybara ice cream and merchandise at the River Wonders Shop.
