A woman, believed to be drunk, fell asleep in the back seat of a private hire vehicle.

She did not wake up despite repeated attempts by the driver.

The driver eventually called the police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) for assistance.

Unable to wake the passenger

The incident took place at 7:23am on Mar. 17, near Stanley Street, and was brought to public attention after the driver, Vincent Lee, recounted his experience in the Facebook group TADA Drivers Club.

According to Lee, after dropping off a female passenger at her destination, he was unable to wake her, no matter how hard he tried.

"Shouted at her, no response — even got a lady passerby to help, and she couldn't wake her up either," he wrote in reply to a comment on his post.

Left with no other options, Lee dialled 999, and a police and ambulance were subsequently dispatched to the scene.

Lee also noted that the trip had been prepaid via the passenger's electronic payment method, so he did not incur any loss in fare.

In response to queries from Mothership, SCDF confirmed receiving a call for assistance at approximately 7:40am, though their help was ultimately not required.
