BYD replaces Standard Chartered as title sponsor for S'pore International Marathon in 2026
Standard Chartered Bank was the title sponsor the past 22 years.
Chinese automaker BYD is the new title sponsor for the Singapore International Marathon in 2026.
Announced on Mar. 17, this marks the first change in title sponsor since 2004.
Standard Chartered Bank was the title sponsor for the past 22 years.
The full name of the event is now BYD Singapore International Marathon presented by adidas.
Adidas has been unveiled as the presenting sponsor.
Standard Chartered will still be the event’s official bank.
Sponsor names will appear in three race categories.
They are the BYD Marathon, adidas Half Marathon, and Standard Chartered 10km.
The event will be held from Dec. 4 to 6, 2026.
James Ng, managing director of BYD Singapore, said: “The national marathon is a prestigious event, and we are proud to power its next era and to support an event that brings communities together through shared purpose and perseverance.”
52,000 participants cap
Participants will be capped at 52,000 persons to enhance the overall experience.
The 2025 event drew 55,000 participants, which saw complaints of congestion along the route and finish line.
The announcement was made by new event organisers SG International Marathon Private Limited (SGIMPL) at a press conference at The Kallang.
Sport Singapore (SportSG) made an open grant call to select the event organisers.
SGIMPL was unveiled in December 2025.
Ironman Asia previously organised Singapore’s only marathon over the past decade.
The BYD Marathon is the only race in Southeast Asia with a World Athletics Gold Label status, and it will retain it.
The Association of International Marathons and Distance Races will course-measure and certify all other race categories.
SportSG, the Singapore Tourism Board and the Singapore Athletic Association will remain event partners.
Registration
Registrations begin in April 2026.
The marathon will be held on the morning of Dec. 6.
Running events for children will be held on the morning of Dec. 4.
The 5km and 10km races will take place on the night of Dec. 4.
The half-marathon on the morning of Dec. 5.
