He was charged with one count of molestation.
A 43-year-old former station inspector with the Singapore Police Force (SPF) allegedly outraged the modesty of a 25-year-old woman in a hotel.
According to The Straits Times, the man, Mohamad Joppri Harpawi, was handed one charge of molestation on Feb. 11.
Kissed the woman in a hotel
Citing court documents, ST reported that he allegedly kissed the woman on the lips at about 5:30am on Mar. 17, 2024, at a hotel in the vicinity of Geylang Road.
Joppri resigned from the police force in February 2025.
In response to queries from ST, the police said investigations began once they were alerted to the alleged offence and that Joppri was immediately taken off frontline duties.
A police spokesperson said officers are expected to uphold the law and maintain the highest standards of conduct and integrity, adding that the force deals sternly with those who break the law, including charging them in court.
The spokesperson added that no further comments could be made as court proceedings are ongoing.
Joppri's case has been adjourned to Mar. 4.
