S'porean woman, 27, riding pillion, dies on the spot after trailer truck runs her over in JB, M'sia

The motorcyclist, a Malaysian man, 38, also perished.

A Singaporean woman, 27, who was riding pillion on a motorcycle, died instantly after she and the motorcyclist, a Malaysian man, 38, were run over by a trailer truck in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, on Jan. 21.

The incident occurred at around 2:05pm on Wednesday along the North–South Expressway, China Press reported.

The pair were travelling south from the Bandar Dato' Onn township towards Johor Bahru city centre.

The accident involved a motorcycle, a lorry, and a trailer lorry.

 

What happened

According to Malaysia police, the motorcycle was trying to overtake a lorry, but lost control.

The motorcycle hit the right rear side of the lorry and fell over.

The motorcyclist and the pillion rider were then run over by a trailer truck coming from their right.

Both the motorcyclist and pillion rider died on the spot.

The bodies of the deceased were sent to Sultanah Aminah Hospital for autopsy.

The lorry driver was a 45-year-old Malaysian man, while the trailer truck driver was identified as a 35-year-old Malaysian man, Malaysia police revealed.

Police investigations are ongoing.
