A Pikachu soft toy made its way into the Singapore parliament chamber on Jan. 14.

This was after David Hoe, the People's Action Party (PAP) MP for Jurong East-Bukit Batok GRC, brought it along with him for the Wednesday sitting.

Hoe, in a Facebook post, explained why he did so:

Typically, my daughter brings a soft toy to school. This morning, she brought a book and Pikachu instead.

Before we parted ways, she asked if I could bring Pikachu to Parliament, and I said yes. So, keeping my word, Pikachu is joining me today... especially since we might be discussing social mixing.

Never too early to learn about keeping promises ✌🏼

On Jan. 9, Hoe revealed on social media that he would be raising several issues in parliament.

One issue pertained to whether popular schools in Singapore can be periodically relocated for better social mixing.

Here are some other issues he highlighted.

Hoe is married with two young children.

The post has been taken down. In response to queries from Mothership, Hoe said this was because he had taken a photo at the Parliament Chamber, and had not realised that photos  and videos in the chamber were not permitted unless prior permission was given.

"This rule slipped my mind and I am sorry for the lapse in judgment. As I did not seek prior permission, I took the post down from my socials and informed the Speaker about this matter."
