A Malaysian woman doing an internship in Singapore alleged that a male housemate had filmed her while she was showering in a rented home.

According to Adriana Yeong, the incident occurred in December 2025.

She talked bout her experience in a recent TikTok video, saying that she had just moved into the unit and it was the "nicest room" she had ever rented in Singapore.

"It was the ideal place I envisioned myself living in the next few months," she said.

Filmed via a hole in door

That is, until the unfortunate incident happened.

Speaking to Mothership, Yeong said it had only been around two to three weeks since she moved into the house where she lived with one couple, one other woman and three men.

Yeong added that she was taking a shower in the rental unit's toilet after getting home from her internship.

She noted that the toilet was very small, and that she could touch the walls on both sides just by stretching out her arms.

Yeong added that the toilet door was a louver door, fitted with horizontal panels to allow air and light to pass through.

While showering, she felt as if someone was looking at her.

She said she then noticed being filmed when she turned around.

She had noticed an iPhone protruding from a gap in the door, where a panel should have been.

The shock caused her to freeze and panic, and she claimed that the person who filmed her ran away afterwards.

Called for help

Following the incident, Yeong called the police and her father.

However, though Yeong claims to know the culprit, whom she alleged was one of the male tenants, she said the police reportedly could not do anything as "no evidence was found".

She also said:

"The owners were, like, 'it's not our fault, you can move out if you want," and I feel like that's so terrible. [...] At the end of the day, it was me who had to move out and not the guy that filmed me."

The experience left her feeling unheard.

She added that she had to stay at the unit for another month before she could finally move out.

"Every day was so difficult because I would open the front door sometimes and he'd be standing there," she said.

Safe place

Prior to arriving in Singapore, Yeong said she had the impression that Singapore was a "safe place".

Now, however, she said that she developed trauma from that incident as she pays close attention to the door whenever she takes a shower.

She has since moved out and currently lives with two other Malaysian tenants.

In light of her experience, she urged other foreign female students like her to do their research in every unit that they find.
