Just turned 21

The two victims were later identified by relatives at the morgue as 21-year-old Feng Shengqin (transliteration) and 19-year-old Chen Huishan (transliteration), Sin Chew Daily reported.

The two were a couple, and they were on their way from Penang to Perlis when their car caught fire near a toll booth.

Feng had just turned 21 earlier on Jan. 7 and is the younger of two sons.

The siblings, along with their father, run a fruit business in Perlis.

The 19-year-old Chen, who was from Penang, was the eldest child in the family, China Press wrote.

She is survived by her 48-year-old father, 51-year-old mother, and a younger brother.

Her parents shared that they received news of the tragedy at about 11 am the same afternoon.

While at the morgue to identify the victim's bodies, Feng's father, 44-year-old Feng Qiaofeng (transliteration), repeatedly apologised to Chen's family, according to Sin Chew Daily.
